Wembley residential regeneration project completed by Sisk

First of two residential blocks completed by Sisk in Wembley City

John Sisk and Son Ltd (Sisk), one of the largest construction groups in the UK and Ireland, has completed the first residential development within Wembley City for Quintessential Homes (Wembley) LLP.

The £43.2m project consisted of the design and construction of 286 high quality modern apartments, many of which enjoy views of the neighbouring Wembley Stadium.

At 28,500m², the complex features basement car parking, community and retail areas with excellent transport links by tube and rail to the City. There is also a landscaped public open space to the central courtyard area.

The construction included an insitu concrete frame from ground to the 7th floor with a steel frame forming the upper level of the duplex apartments. Prefabricated bathroom pods have been used on this project and an under floor heating system is provided from a central plant system within the basement.

An underground vacuum rubbish removal and disposal system installed by Envac is also included, the first of its type in the UK, reducing the need for road transportation of waste. The building has also been rated Very Good by the BREEAM Ecohomes standard, verifying its environmental performance.

The second, £45m project is currently under way and on schedule.

Mike Higgins, Director Southern, Sisk commented:

“Sisk’s large portfolio of projects of this kind is testament to our abilities in the residential build market. This is also a truly prestigious, yet accessible living environment for the end user and we are delighted to hand the first finished residential product over to Quintain Investments.”

David Crump, Construction Director for Quintain, added:

“When complete Wembley City will be home for more than 10,000 people and welcome an estimated 21 million visitors every year. This first residential building complements the major refurbishment of Wembley Arena and the creation of Arena Square, and sets a very high standard for all future buildings within the scheme.
