Sisk starts on £200m Nestlé coffee factory

John Sisk has started work on Nestlé’s £200m extension to its factory in Tutbury, Derbyshire.

The scheme is the Nestlé group’s largest construction project worldwide and will bring together all of the firm’s UK coffee production, including freeze dried, spray dried and pod technology.

Monster lift sends east London tunnelling machines 40 metres underground

Crossrail has marked a major milestone in the construction of London’s new rail line with the lowering of a 550 tonne tunnelling machine into a 40 metre deep shaft in east London last ahead of the start of tunnelling for Crossrail’s eastern section of the new rail line.

The delicate operation required one of the largest cranes in Europe to lift the equivalent of 280 London taxis.

Perfect weather conditions were needed and the light winds and no rain allowed for Elizabeth to be moved underground.

Coláiste Choilm Post Primary School, Tullamore, Co Offaly has won both the Green Building Award and the Overall Green Award at the 2012 Green Awards.

HOK Announces Fitzrovia Apartments Topped Out

The second and final phase of 50 Bolsover Street is being topped out this week. Fitzrovia Apartments has been designed by architects HOK, with John Sisk & Son as the building contractors. The project is a joint venture between Ridgeford Properties and Manhattan Loft Corporation

Phase two of the development includes 60 individually designed private and social housing apartments and offices within a retained, Grade II listed historic hall.

First look at new Rathbone Market homes

The Rathbone Market development in Canning Town has reached a major milestone as work is completed on two sample apartments.

The new apartments were completed on time by main contractor John Sisk & Son and have been finished to the highest standard with solid oak flooring, built in wardrobes and kitchen appliances and ensuite bathrooms to the master bedrooms.

John Sisk & Son wins trio of Strathclyde Police Station upgrades

John Sisk & Son has won a contract with Strathclyde Police to deliver new modular building custody units at Coatbridge, Motherwell and Clydebank Police Stations.

Construction on the site started this month, with works comprising the design, supply and installation of the new modular buildings and the design, re-modelling and construction of the existing custody suites and custody facilities at the three stations.

John Sisk & Son completes expansion at Ashfield House

Pharmaceutical services provider Ashfield In2Focus has moved into its new training and management facilities following the completion of a new extension at its international headquarters in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire.

John Sisk & Son initially built Ashfield House in 2002 and were subsequently awarded the contract for the expansion as the growing business required additional space and facilities at the site.

John Sisk & Son has had its most successful year to date at the Considerate Constructors Scheme 2012 National Site Awards, receiving eight awards for excellent standards in industry practice towards its workforce, neighbours and the environment.

The National Site Awards acknowledge the highest scoring 7.5% of sites completed in 2011. With an average site score of 35 out of 40 points, John Sisk & Son consistently exceeded the industry average of 31.
