St Mary Axe contract awarded to John Sisk & Son

John Sisk & Son has secured a £12m refurbishment and extension project at 63 St Mary Axe from property investment firms Moorevale and Rockspring, to provide high quality commercial office space in the heart of the City of London.

A 48 week programme of work will entail the full refurbishment and fit out of existing office space at 63 St. Mary Axe as well as a two floor extension enlarging the building to 85,000 sq. ft.

The building will offer an excellent working environment whilst meeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards for sustainability.

Charlie Bishop, Director at Moorevale, commented: “This asset is located in a sought after location in the City of London and on completion of the rejuvenation works will provide premium office space. We were impressed by John Sisk & Son’s innovative approach to the base design and, with a proven track record of delivering quality commercial projects on a tight timescale, we are confident the solutions they offer will add value to the investment.”

Peter Glass, Regional Director at John Sisk & Son, added: “Our strategy for 63 St Mary Axe is to ensure the earliest delivery of the project, focusing our solutions on increasing their potential to maximise rental revenue. We have extensive experience working on large commercial spaces in demanding city locations.”

The site is situated within a busy central London location and John Sisk & Son has managed the planning process to ensure efficient management of logistics throughout the duration of the project. The team will also work continually to minimise disruption to the current tenants in the building.
