November 2009
John Sisk & Son Ltd has won the contract from Warwickshire Police to renovate and refurbish Rugby’s Police Station.
The £3.5m contract will take 29 weeks and will be completed in March 2010. The works will see the original 1960s style offices transformed into modern open plan, air conditioned office space fit for 21st century policing.
Chris Dyer, Director Midlands Region, Sisk commented: “Sisk has wide-ranging experience in the refurbishment arena, particularly in live environment situations where sensitivity and care as well as delivery to time and budget are key priorities.”
The programme of works has been a four-staged process and the first two stages, for the administrative departments, have already been completed. Sisk will take on the last two stages that will comprise:
• Strip out of existing fittings and finishes
• Forming new meeting rooms, cellular offices
• Refurbishment of existing detention facilities to meet current Home Office requirements
• Installation of new M & E systems
• Provision of temporary offices on site for relocated WPA staff for the duration of the works
• Provision of temporary detention facilities throughout the duration of the works
• Window replacement and external repair works to facades and roof
Speaking about the refurbishment of Warwickshire's largest police station, Clive Phillips, Head of Property Services said: "This project is one of several being undertaken by Warwickshire Police to improve and modernise police accommodation in Warwickshire."
"The improvement to police buildings demonstrates the commitment of Warwickshire Police to improve policing services for the people of Warwickshire."
The police station is adjacent to Rugby Magistrates Courts and both buildings will remain live and operational throughout the duration of the works.
