Sandringham School Partners with Contractor Sisk in Tree Planting Scheme
December 2009
Local contractor supplies 90 trees for Tree Appeal project
Contractor John Sisk & Son Ltd, which has its UK head office in St Albans, has donated 90 trees to Sandringham School in St. Albans as part of a scheme run by the Tree Appeal.
Students from the School, accompanied by Headteacher Alan Gray, helped Nigel Warnes from Sisk plant a tree in the school’s grounds. The project is part of Sisk’s ongoing initiative to champion sustainability across everything it does and it will continue this programme to include other areas of community engagement too.
Nigel Warnes, Head of Major Projects, Sisk commented:
“We are a family run contractor that prides itself on the work we do in our community and making it a better place to be. It is great to be out here today with the students giving something back that will grow for the next generation to enjoy.”
The elements were against the tree planting team with typically British weather ensuring the trees were well watered in. The school will ensure the trees are well looked after during the winter months.
Alan Gray, Headteacher, Sandringham School added:
“I’d like to thank Sisk and Tree Appeal for working in partnership with us and providing this opportunity for Sandringham school. The students will enjoy monitoring the tree growth. They will have the opportunity to learn about their importance to wildlife and creating a better environment for us all.”
