Luxury five star complex opens on Lord Lansdowne’s estate

John Sisk & Son Ltd (Sisk), one of the largest construction groups in the UK and Ireland, has completed the £7.6m luxury hotel and spa complex on the grounds of Lord Lansdowne’s estate in Wiltshire.

The high-quality 43 bedroom development, including 6 luxury suites, has been designed to sympathetically blend into the existing, listed landscape created by ‘Capability’ Brown. The build complements the estate perfectly, which comprises a golf course and conference facilities, not to mention the existing house and gardens where visitors can enjoy fine 18^th Century architecture.

Bowood can now offer a complete range of facilities, including corporate entertainment, exclusive conferencing, wedding celebrations and breaks in the rural splendour. The hotel and spa sees the completion of phase 2 of a long-term plan of works to build a rival to some of the best golf courses in the country, hosting a variety of golf related events.

State of the art guest facilities include a 15m swimming pool with a gym, rock sauna, crystal steam room and aromatherapy showers. The Shelburne restaurant can seat up to 80 with a bar and two comfortable lounges featuring wood burning fires.

Environmental considerations have been incorporated into the design from the outset, the development boasting a biomass boiler that will be fed with fuel sustainably sourced from the estate and reed beds will be used for on-site waste treatment.

Lord Lansdowne has continued to take a personal interest throughout the construction phase and Lady Lansdowne took responsibility for the interior design.
