Contract Journal awards Sisk with the prestigious award in the 101 – 500 employee category

John Sisk & Son Ltd (Sisk), one of the largest construction groups in the UK and Ireland, has been awarded the Contract Journal Best Place to Work in Construction 2009 – for the category Building Contractor with 101 - 500 employees.

The award is widely considered as one of the most prestigious to win in the construction industry and Sisk overcame some strong competition in the hotly contested category to win. The award comes in a year that also sees Sisk celebrate its 150^th anniversary.

Companies were assessed on a wide range of criteria and questions were asked of employers on staff turnover, the percentage of employees who have been with the company for more than ten years; the percentage of new recruits who are graduates or apprentices; and the average training investment per employee.

Employees were also invited to answer questions including the length of service, the benefits offered by the company and the values and opinions associated with working for the organisation.

The award, now in its 5^th year, was announced at Contract Journal’s annual event in Lord’s Cricket Ground on 17^th June 2009.
